Similar to grievances, a disciplinary procedure must follow a set procedure. First you must decide how serious the misconduct is and whether a formal disciplinary procedure is required or a warning would suffice.
If a formal disciplinary is required, you should first check your company’s policies and procedures. If you have a company procedure in place for dealing with disciplinaries then you must follow it. If you don’t have a company procedure then you should follow the ACAS Code of Practice.
